My newest brainwave...

You may remember that awhile back I said I wanted to refinish a table and chair set that we have? Well, I decided to start out small, give myself a bit of practise before moving onto the big stuff. So, I found this table thing in someone's garbage and luckily, it fit perfectly in our car! I've been wanting something this size for our bedroom for awhile now and this seemed to be just the right thing. Little cupboards for my makeup and hair stuff and a flat surface to put my necklace holders and stuff on (currently they are on the floor). It looks ugly in the before picture, but I have BIG plans for this ugly duckling! I set right to work, as soon as I got it home today, sanding like a mad woman. Luckily, I have the nicest neighbors EVER and the sweet Irish man across the street came over and loaned me his electric sander. Things went much faster after that!

More before...

...and after! Well after sanding, I still have a looong way to go! But, it's fun and I'm optimistic!

Meanwhile, while I was working away, Steve made the most amazing dinner ever! Curry Mahi Mahi (a kind of white fish) with baked potatoe and sugar peas. Wow! So amazing! This isn't the greatest picture ever (I had to snap fast, as I was too excited to dig in to take my time with a picture!) but you can still imagine how yummy it must have been! What a good man, that husband of mine!! ;)
Also, Straddie pics are still to come...just as soon as I take the time to post them!

Nice job, can't wait to see it when it's finished. Chief Steve can come here and cook for me too any day.

That's gonna be a nice dressing table once you're done! Man you're brave to start such a project, but I'm sure you'll bring it to the end. And it's great to have such nice neighbours around!

Awesome project Cari! I'm sure it'll turn out great. It's really rewarding to refinish something, you'll never want to get rid of it.
