Tis the season...

You hear it everywhere...people complaining about having colds...and it's so easy to say..."Yeah, I guess it's the season" and smile nicely BUT when you're the one who has the cold it's not so easy to smile. It is now 2:30 in the morning and I am wide awake for yet another night because I can't sleep. I can't breath, I'm too stuffed up and what medication I do take for a bit of relief, ALWAYS keeps me awake. Even the nighttime stuff that knocks everyone else out, seems to make me hyper. Sigh. So perhaps I will go try to read or something and hope that I get sleepy soon. One bonus to not working is not having to worry about going to work when you feel like crap. No worrying about calling in sick or getting behind. Just sleep, sleep, sleep. Although, that's not happening at the moment, as I may have already previously mentioned:(

A walk to remember

See that tree branch? Well 2 minutes before this picture was taken Cari was standing right where it's now laying. I was about 10 feet away from her. We were walking at our favorite off lead park. It was a really windy day. I was ahead of her when I heard a cracking sound. I looked up and heard a couple more cracking sounds. I turned back to Cari and yelled RUN, as I was yelling I started to run towards her. She turned to run, slipped, then fell/dove about 6 feet. As she fell I was running towards her to avoid the falling limb. To say this was a close call is the understatement of the week. When I got to her she was face down in the dirt trying to get up, the fallen tree was about 5 feet behind her and I.

She busted up her flip flop.

She was covered in dirt, the back of her arms were worse, her knees are bruised and she broke her sunglasses. About a minute before this all happened, Cari put Jesse on his lease because we were getting close to a dirty brook that he likes to jump into. It was a lucky thing she did because he was right with her when she and I ran out of the way. Who knows where he would have been if he was off lead!

Happy Birthday to Jeff!

We got together at an Italian restaurant in, where else, Little Italy, to eat, drink and be merry. And merry we all were, as it was a bring your own booze restaurant. This is the birthday boy, looking very dapper, I might add.
Birthday shots. Not sure how he managed that straight vodka. Ick.

Me, in Paul's hat.

Happy Birthday Jesse!!!

Jesse turns 5 today. It's hard to believe that we've had him for 5 years! I had to post some pics of when he was just a puppy...most of these were when he was around 8 weeks old and we had just brought him home. He was the cutest puppy ever! Looking at these pictures really makes me want to get another dog but I think that will have to wait for awhile yet. Steve and I would both like to move internationally at some point and it's hard enough with one baby puppy, so 2 is probably out of the question, until we decide where we want to end up!!!
This picture was taken when we first went to pick out our puppy. This is Jesse at only 2 weeks old!
Jesse's first night in his new home. He actually liked his kennel right away. It was cute last night...I was looking for him and I find him all curled up in his kennel, totally at home. It's his own little place, even now.
Okay, so this pic is a little crazy of me!
This was Jesse first best buddy, Tucker. Tucker was exactly 2 months older than Jesse. He lived in our neighborhood in Bedford. I hope Tucker is doing well! Ahhhh, the memories:)

Our long weekend

We had a great weekend. The kind of weekend where you don't have anything pressing to do but you just have a relaxing good time. Saturday we did the usual errands and grocery shopping. Sunday it rained, so we had a movie marathon day. We went to "Bon Cop Bad Cop" at the theatre. I LOVED this movie. I think someone who isn't from Quebec but lives here or has lived here will truly appreciate this film. I am definitely buying this one when it comes out. Also, when we came out of the theatre there was a car that had driven into the front doors of the theatre. Smack. Right through the glass. No idea how that would have happened, especially considering that the theatre doors are quite far back from the road! Steve took a pic with his cell phone. Does anyone know how to post pics on the blog off of a cell phone? Anyway, Sunday evening we made a fire (I love having a fireplace!) and watched a couple of movies at home, Sentinel and Domino (after Kristie's high recommendation;)) We enjoyed both.
Monday, we decided to be adventurous and just got in the car and went for a drive. We actually ended up at the park that we've heard a lot about, but wasn't too sure where it was. I think it's called Parc des cascades. It's basically walking trails all along an old canal. It's quite cool. Very big. Jesse swam and we well, walked. See pics below:) Hope everyone had a great long weekend!
Jesse is getting really good at jumping off docks. He used to be scared of it, so he's making real progress!
Go Jesse!

I guess this means there is a waterfall nearby!

Nothing better then a good bone...

...especially if it's got peanut butter inside! Yummy!
Notice the dog hair on the futon? It's an endless battle.
