Some disappointing news...

I came home today to find a letter in our mailbox, from our landlord saying that when our lease is up in February, he will not be renewing it, as he is planning to "develop the site". I'm not sure what this means exactly, but it does mean that we're back to looking for a place to live.
It's disappointing because I REALLY like our house, it's in the perfect location, especially for someone who doesn't have a car, and mostly, it was just starting to really feel like home. I was getting settled here and starting to relax.
It's nice of the landlord to give us lots of notice. I've been warned that this happens a lot here and often the landlords give the tenants barely any notice at all. The letter said that we can stay until February or if we find another place to live before that time, we can break the lease, no problem. So, I started looking right away, as I don't want to have to be moving at Christmas time, or wait until the last minute and be stuck taking any ole place. It's a challenge to find somewhere that will take dogs, but I'm being optimistic and thinking that maybe we'll get a place we like even better. Maybe the next place will have a bathtub and built in closets.
We found a place we really like once, we can find another one. Plus, this time around we know the areas better and have a better sense of what renting is like here. And, as a big positive, we don't have a whole lot of stuff, so moving won't be so bad...
Okay...here's to positive thinking. Fingers crossed that the quest for a new home goes well...

Positive thinking goes a long way! I recently watched "The Secret" (boring movie but interesting concept) and it's all about the power of positivity.
I have no doubt that you will find another place you like equally or even better! And you have a whole 8 months to do so! Make sure it has a guest bedroom for me! jk...

Really sorry that you got to find a new place, that really sucks. I hope you find a place you like just as much or even more. It's really awesome he gave you lots of notice though so that's a big plus. Around there they give you a month or so. I know you'll find something. If you need help again let me know. I'll try and help when I have a few minutes of free time.

Oh that's a bummer but you're totally right...you've got some time and you found a great place once and now you can just find an even better place!!!!

Ah, that sucks about the house. But, you have lots of time to look for a new one. Hopefully it will be just as nice!!

Sorry to hear the news. Especially when you're starting to feel settled.
Thankfully, you guys have plenty of time to look, and you can break your lease if you find something soon.

Nmmmm....lots of time and you are able to break the lease if you find another place. Having to move is a pain but at least you have those advantages to facilitate finding a better place.
