So...very spontaneously on Thursday afternoon, I suggested to Steve that we get away for the weekend. It's been such a crazy last few months and we've both been feeling really exhausted. With all the Pandemic lay-offs and closure and let downs, we figured we deserved a little peace and tranquility, if nothing else, we could call it a celebration for Steve's new job or one last good weekend away together in Queensland before we move. Basically, lots of good reasons to get away! We decided on Noosa, asked Clo and Rej if they could Jesse sit (they could...thanks Guys!) and headed off Friday afternoon as soon as I got off work. We didn't even have a place to stay until Friday morning but it all worked out perfectly and we had an absolutely wonderful weekend! The resort where we stayed was really nice...we had our own little courtyard (see pic above) with a bbq, however there was no cooking for us! We splurged on nice meals at snazzy restaurants, complete with expensive cocktails and indulgent desserts! Yummy!
Saturday morning after the best eggs benedict that I have EVER eaten (Steve thought I was going to lick my plate!), we drove to a town called Eumundi, about 20 minutes outside Noosa. I had heard that the Saturday morning market there is one of the best and I wasn't disappointed! Basically, the whole town becomes a market and the stuff is cool and unique. Not just the same ole stuff you see at every market in the city. I really love markets...I would say I'm a market junkie.
These kids were so cute. They were playing for money but every time someone dropped money in their hat, they would stop playing, get all excited, fish the money out, count it and add it to their money pile. Really cute. We got a pretty good laugh out of it!
Steve likes ginger beer and thought this was pretty good...very gingery! I don't like the stuff at all! Just for the record, ginger beer isn't alcoholic, it's kind of like saying Root Beer.
The rest of Saturday was spent at the beach. We had the perfect weather! It has been so hot lately and technically it's meant to be autumn!
On Sunday, we rented jet-skis! This pic is me, signing my life away before getting on a jet-ski...not quite as bad as when I signed for skydiving!
I was a little nervous at first, but got the hang of it pretty quickly. Then, I couldn't go fast enough! So much fun!
Now, the work begins! We have lots to do in the next 3 weeks before we move! I finish work on Friday, the 20th of March and we're aiming to leave to drive to Melbourne on Sunday, the 22nd of March. Lots of packing and planning in the next few weeks, but I'm really looking forward to exploring a new city! I really feel like things have really worked out well for us. We get to stay in Australia, experience living in another part of the country, Steve gets to be a lead animator on a good project and hopefully, if all goes well, we'll get another shot at residency in a year's time. We are still determined to get citizenship, so we can come back when we're old! I guess this proves that even when things seem tough, the right things will happen in the end!
