Brisbane River Festival 2007

On Saturday, Steve's producer, Gordan and his girlfriend, Jodie, invited us over to their house to watch the river fire show that was going on, as part of the river festival (which is happening right now). They live in a condo on the 40th floor in the CBD (which means right downtown) and have a great view of the city and the river. The fireworks were awesome! They literally went off everywhere...from barges set up all along the river, to the tops of buildings...everywhere! We were surrounded and they lasted for about 30 minutes. Jets opened and closed the show (see video below) and before the sun went down and the show started, there was an air show with little planes zooming all around, doing tricks and stuff. It was pretty cool and the view from Gordan and Jodie's was terrific!

There were heaps of people everywhere too. I love that feeling of everyone coming out to enjoy the fun! It was nice because people set up little picnics on blankets, all over the sidewalks and were feasting on everything from cheese, crackers and wine to pizza and beer! Some even had little fold out tables. Aussies go to their festivals prepared! It still amazes me how people can drink alcohol so openly in public. Like just bottles of wine sitting on their blanket, in the middle of a huge crowd.

So fun! And yeah I find it so weird how they can just have a bottle of wine in the street! Aussie's live the life!
