With all this talk of warmer weather and summer goals, there comes of course, Christmas! Yes, I really do live in an upside down world! I broke our usual rule of waiting until December 1st to decorate this year for three reasons;
1. It doesn't exactly feel like Christmas is coming here and I wanted to help myself get in the spirit of the holidays.
2. Living in Australia requires you to prepare everything early (cards, gifts, etc...) in order to post it and be sure it gets to Canada in time and well, that's just more fun in a decorated house.
3. I just really wanted to decorate!
Each year I try to make something new to add to our Christmas decoration collection. This year, I really wanted to make a countdown to Christmas advent calendar thing. What do you call these? I saw them in stores and they were selling for $40. That's way out of our price range this year, but oh so easy to make. So, using stuff I already had, I did just that...made my own, using the ones I saw in the shops for inspiration...

Love it!!! Haven't started decorating but have been shopping for some new lights and a tree and I think we've picked them out. I'm actually really excited for Christmas this year but mostly because I'm cutting back and trying to enjoy the fun of it.
yeah! that's what is important. we're actually not even doing gifts this year for anyone because i'm not working but it doesn't bother me. the best part of christmas is the decorating, baking, hanging with friends, etc...i love it all! so glad to hear you've caught the christmas bug this year too! xo
Perfectly christmassy and totally cute - now I have to rethink the felt star garland I've been working on.....
In the states we have Thanksgiving the fourth Thursday in November. Which is tomorrow. Or, probably today for you. The big decorating usually begins then. Since I have the kids at their Grandma's we will probably put up her tree while we are here.
I love, love, love your advent calendar. You are clever and crafty. Very well done.
Oh, and re: next post, your husband is insane. In a good way.
