Happy Birthday Kristjan!

Birthday boy.
Birthday boy and Brian.
We had dinner at a cool little Tanesian restaurant that had belly dancers dancing during the evening, as we ate. Here's one of them...they were very good! The food was also very good!
Stacey and me.
Steve's had a few drinks at this point...can you tell by that smile?:)

Halloween night

We went over to Darryl and Stacey's place for yummy homemade pizza and pumpkin loaf for dessert. They didn't get too many trick or treaters but they got more than we would have got in our condo. I don't think the rainy evening helped. Anyway, we had a great time and Shamus and Breagha were just adorable in their costumes! Shamus really seemed to get into the whole trick or treating thing after awhile. Although, he was a little scared of Steve in his nerd costume, but frankly, so was I;) The above pic is of the Purdys, all dressed up.
Shamus, looking like Curious George, who he really likes.
Miss Breagha's first Halloween. Too cute!!!

C'est l'halloween!

We had a little going away get together for Katie last night. She's moving to Virginia. We dressed for Halloween, since the timing was right for having a costume party. We got together at our place for munchies and drinks and then headed downtown. Lots of fun! Here's Katie as Little Red Riding Hood.

A nerd and a cat.
Tinker Bell and Peter Pan joined the party.
Stacey the pirate.

Jesse, the bumblebee.

Man! Those teeth were disgusting!

No idea who these poeple were but their costumes were great! Bride and Groom of doom.

Jolyne, the Russian Spy.

Jeff, the ....?
This picture really sums it all up. Man. Steve hands down had the funniest costume!

Jesse update

Happy to report that Jesse seems to be doing well today. After 2 root canals on 2 fang teeth, a mass removal from his eyelid, a cyst removal from his back and 2 and a half hours of surgery yesterday, Jesse seems more himself this morning. He was a little foggy last night and cried, which isn't like him. Today, he just seems a little extra sleepy and has a shaved spot on his back and 2 little staples, which he'll go back to have removed in 2 weeks. His teeth are sparkly white, from the teeth cleaning that they gave him at the same time and nails have never looked so good...the vet trimmed them while he was knocked out. I have to say, Jesse should be feeling like a brand new dog before long!

Caught in the act...

So, I went to my chiropractor appointment this morning and was gone for a whole 25 minutes, only to come home to this guilty puppy, who feasted on firewood while I was away! He has his root canal/teeth cleaning/cyst removal surgery tomorrow, so hopefully he doesn't get a belly ache or get sick from this! This pic isn't the greatest but it shows the proof of Jesse's mischievous ways...

Halloween is almost here...do you have your costume ready???

Saturday, October 21, 2006

Okay Sel...this post is for you!

Not too much going on with us lately. It's getting cold. I broke down and turned on the heat a few days ago and last night when we were walking Jes, we noticed that the tennis court where we play tennis has been converted into a hockey rink, a sure sign that winter is knocking at the door. The good news of the day, is that our friend, Kristi is coming to visit us in November. That's exciting! Lots to plan on seeing and doing! And finally, I have to share this chicken recipe...we had it last night and it's SO yummy! Enjoy!
Yogurt and Spice Chicken (serves 4)
4 lg. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup plain lowfat yogurt
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
3 to 4 cloves garlic, pressed
2 tsp. curry powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cumin powder
1/4 tsp. sea salt
a dash or 2 of nutmeg and/or allspice
several dashes of cayenne
Basically you mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, then add the chicken for marinading. Cut a couple of slits in the chicken so it absorbs the sauce. Make sure the chicken is completely covered with marinade. Let the chicken marinate, covered in the fridge for 4 hours, turning the chicken in the marinade 2 to 3 times. Then place chicken on the grill (scraping off excess sauce) until cooked. Enjoy! So, so yummy!

On Sunday...

...we got up, got ready and headed to Mont Tremblant, planning to spend the day in the village, having lunch and admiring the fall colors (http://www.tremblant.ca/index.htm). However, we didn't make it because the traffic was INSANE! We went 40 km/hr. for one hour and didn't see any let up in site! AND this was on the 3 lane highway! So, seeing as it is a 2 hour drive going at normal speed, we gave up and had lunch in the village close to St. Saveur and did a little shopping. Still ended up having fun...Here's a few pics I snapped from the car as we drove through the beautiful Laurentiens. This first pic is actually in the village by St. Saveur, just outside the restaurant where we ate lunch.

Facing our Demons

We went back this weekend to take a closer look at what almost landed on us. We were both surprised at what we found.Dramazation
Cari standing on the side that she landed on.Me on the other side, you get a good look at the size of this sucker.
Cari standing on one part of the tree.
Me standing near where Cari was standing when it came down.

Cari is sitting on the base of the brance that fell. We didn't realize how big this thing was when it came down last week. It sounded big when it fell, but we didn't stick around to take a better look.
